Ordering a
card reader

Why do I need a card reader?

Digital Banking is great to view your balance and make transfers between your accounts, but it has more to offer than that. To get the most from Digital Banking, you will need a card reader.

When you register for Digital Banking a card reader will automatically be sent to you and should arrive within 7 working days.

Should you need to order a replacement card reader this can be done through Digital Banking, please allow upto 7 working days for the card reader to reach you.

Note: To order a replacement card reader, you’ll need to have a Digital Banking account.

What do I do next?

A card-reader will arrive within 7 working days, we'll send it to the main address we have for you.

When your new card-read arrives, if it's your first one you'll have to enable your card-reader before you can use it.

If you have previously enabled your card-reader then you shouldn’t need to enable it again to begin using it.

No debit card?

If you do not have a debit card for your account, we’ll send you a Digital Banking card (known as a CAP card) and PIN that you can use with the card-reader. Please allow up to 15 working days for these to arrive.

Still not recieved your card-reader?

If you've ordered a card-reader that hasn’t arrived yet and you need to make a payment urgently, you might be able to use the Royal Bank app to make a new payment without the need of a card reader.
