Enabling your card reader
through Digital Banking

Enable your card reader

Once your Digital Banking card reader has arrived in the post, before you can start using it to authorise your payments, you first need to enable it.

Note: The only place you can do this is through Digital Banking.

What do I do next?

If you have previously enabled your card-reader then you shouldn’t need to enable it again to begin using it.

No debit card?

If you do not have a debit card for your account, we’ll send you a Digital Banking card (known as a CAP card) and PIN that you can use with the card-reader. Please allow up to 15 working days for these to arrive.

Still not recieved your card-reader?

If you've ordered a card-reader that hasn’t arrived yet and you need to make a payment urgently, you might be able to use the Royal Bank app to make a new payment without the need of a card reader.
